Are these only for ultrasonic scalers?
The size and shape are cut for ultrasonic scalers, but they also take handpieces of a similar diameter.
Does the sleeve affect scaling performance?
No. The film is thin enough that it does not damp the vibration or block the water spray.
How do I keep the sleeve in place during use?
The sleeve holds by friction against the instrument body. If you want extra security on a long appointment, tape the top edge to the cord.
Why is a barrier worth it during scaling?
Scaling puts aerosol and splatter over everything within reach of the chair. Covering the instrument and the first part of the cord cuts both the contamination and the cleaning time between patients.
Can a sleeve be reused?
No. Each sleeve is single use and is discarded after one patient.
