What does the cardboard protector do?
It is a card stiffener that sits behind the plate inside the envelope. It keeps the plate flat while the patient bites and holds position, which is where most creasing and scanning artefacts come from.
How does the adhesive seal work?
Slide the plate in, peel the tab and press the flap down. The seal closes the envelope so that saliva cannot reach the plate while it is in the mouth.
Which scanning systems do these fit?
The envelopes are size 2 and suit standard adult imaging plates from the usual systems, including Dentsply Sirona Xios, Carestream CS 7600 and CS 7200, Dürr Dental Optime and VistaScan, and Acteon PSPIX.
Can the cardboard protector be reused?
No. The envelope and the card inside it are single use, one set per exposure.
How does this compare with envelopes without a stiffener?
The card version is worth it where plate replacement cost is the concern; if you want the fastest opening at the chair instead, the super soft version with the blue pull tab is the better fit.
